How can we teenagers 'Contribute' to the society?
Well these days community service is getting quite common. Students at an earlier age have started realising that it is their duty too help the society too; they have started to understand that they are a part. However, there is a problem they usually face, the thing is that they cannot contribute at this level due to time, money, and travel problems; even safety goes for a toss despite having a kind purpose in mind.
these are ways how a TEEN can contribute. (i promise one of these will surely be easy enough for you to do)
1. Clear that cupboard-
lets be honest there is a lot of stuff in your cupboard you 'think' you need but you don't. This list contains old books you stopped reading a long time back, barbie bags you used as a kid, crayon boxes, good-as-new sweaters/pullovers (not you favourites- I said old) shoes, teddys (the ones you never really liked) blankets (ask mum) ,coloured pens and way more - cant even imagine, right?
Here's comes the brave step- 'donate it', yes, go to a nearby (or far) orphanage or a charity school because they need it way more than you do.
tip: make sure its worth using, not torn or in a bad shape. Go there with a smile on your face.
2. Girls can do this (well, the brave ones)-
Donate hair! Girl you always wanted to try how those short hair looked on you, now's the time! Donate them! They wont get so short, just shorter than your present length; these donated hair will go make a wig for those cancer patients who lose their hair. Your donated hair will help them get a new life. Come on girl, dont just do it for style but think of that huge smile on your face AND theirs too.
Its not your regular haircut. Your birthday is coming right? If not, some occasion might be on its way...what a day to cut your hair! Go for it..you are brave enough.
3. EasyPeezy-
Your wallet has some money in it right? Go to a nearby nursery and buy seeds! A handful hardly costs! Plant them at home or maybe randomly at a nearby ground. Must plant! If you live at a flat or your house is small- then just plant small plants in a pot! In fact there are various ways to craft pots and make them attractive enough to keep them at home in the balcony-
4. My Personal Favourite-
Do you have a party, dinner at home, Birthday bash or some occasion where there are guests coming over? Do this- buy plants- many
Make the guests choose and take one home! ask them to plant those! Its as easy as anything! Its a great gesture. Don't think whether they'll like it or will it look weird- its such a great thought that no one will deny taking a plantlet home
its a GREAT thought!
5. The Easiest ...and 'SWEETEST' -
Bring a smile on the face of many! Go to an orphanage or to any underprivileged kids and share sweets! bake goodies yourself and go and bring a smile on the faces of many! Not only kids but go to a park and share it with elderly people1 Such a great idea! Nothing is better than sharing a smile! After all baking makes you oh so happy from the INSIDE.
Just maybe buy a bag of sweets and share! Super easy!
6. Every Monday Routine-
Switch off the lights of your house for an hour from 8-9 every monday and make it a routine! That one hour of no electricity in the house can contribute to the electricity of the house greatly! maybe if your family is okay with it - do it each evening! You have no idea how quickly an hour ends!
Or maybe make it a rule for your house not to switch the lights of your house before noon or maybe till the time your city/house gets sunlight! Great Idea man! Is it so tough?
7. Pocket money -
Im an Indian- and according to our historical books and religion you should always set aside some part of the money in your wallet for donation! Keep it aside in a piggy bank or any place separately
and go donate it when it gets full or upto a decent amount good enough to donate! Or maybe keep apiggy bank for useless change like coins you wouldnt want to keep in your wallet - in the end donate it to a good place!
